International Furry Baby Adoption

Willkommen! ¡Bienvenido! Bienvenue! Benvenuto! Välkommen! Welcome!

We are thrilled that you are considering adopting a Highfalutin Furry Baby!

We wish that it was easy and straight-forward to hand deliver our furry babies to families all across the globe. Unfortunately, recent changes to airline regulations and individual country’s entry requirements have made international deliveries tricky but far from impossible!

We are thrilled to have families in Canada, UK, Morocco, Italy, France, Panama, Mexico, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Denmark, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel, South Africa, Sweden and many more as part of the global Highfalutin family. It’s a special feeling knowing that our furry babies are living their best lives with wonderful families all over the globe.

What are the legal requirements for importing a FURRY BABY into my country?

The legal requirements for importing a furry baby vary from country to country; however, most countries have the following requirements to allow you to bring your furry baby home country:

  • Microchipped

  • Dewormed

  • Three DHpP shots and internasal Bordetella

  • Vaccinated against rabies

  • Negative stool sample (performed within 24 hours of leaving the United States)

  • USDA authorized International Veterinary Certificate

Information on what is required to import into your country can be found here: https://www.bringfido.com/travel/international/

Failure to follow the rules specified by your country exactly could result in your furry baby being turned away or facing an extended quarantine period.

Fortunately, we are experts in international deliveries and we have never experienced an issue delivering to any international families so far!

So, what do we need to do to make sure we have no problems getting your Furry Baby to you?

Every Highfalutin Furry Baby is given a microchip as standard so this is something you will never have to worry about!

Our preferred veterinarian administers dewormer medication to our babies every 2 weeks growing up. We will also administer dewormer medication right before your baby goes home too.

The requirement for vaccination against rabies is our main hurdle. Due to young furry babies occasionally having reactions to vaccinations, veterinarians ensure that vaccinations are spread out and administered every 3-4 weeks to prevent an adverse reaction. Vaccinations are also not administered before 6 weeks of age (possibly later depending on the size of the furry baby).

The standard furry baby vaccination schedule is as follows:

Furry Baby’s Age

Recommended Vaccinations

Optional Vaccinations

6-8 Weeks

DHPP (Vaccines for distemper, Adenovirus, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)

9-12 Weeks

DHPP

Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme Disease, H3n8 Influenza (different from DHpP influenza shot)

12-15 Weeks

DHPP

Leptospirosis, Lyme Disease, H3n8 Influenza (different from DHpP influenza shot)

15-18 Weeks

Rabies

As you can see, in most cases your Highfalutin Furry Baby will need to be a minimum of 15 weeks old in order to be allowed into your country, although in practice it is usually closer to 18 weeks old before they are allowed to travel internationally.

As our furry babies usually leave the farm at 8 weeks old, for international deliveries we require that your furry baby undertakes training with one of our preferred trainers, or one of your choice. Our reasoning for this is that this age is a critical learning and development period for your furry baby. Between 8 and 16 weeks of age, they absorb knowledge like a sponge and the foundations for their mental wellbeing, social skills and obedience are laid. Failure to train your furry baby and socialize them properly could lead to behavioral issues down the line.

What are the related costs for these services?

This obviously varies depending on your country, but a rough estimate is given below.
In addition to the adoption fees you would expect to pay the following fees:

Vaccinations

$300-500

8-10 weeks in home training

OR

Boarding and care (no training)

$4000-8000

$50 per day

USDA International Veterinary certificate

$200

International airfare

$500-2500 depending on destination and airline

Hand delivery and handover by the trainer (hotel, flight nanny’s travel expenses, and fees)

$1,000-3,000 (optional but highly recommended to reduce the stress to your baby)

Please note that these prices are only a rough guideline. It is difficult to estimate the costs in advance. For example, airfare costs can be reduced if you are prepared to travel in order to receive your baby.

What Differentiates our international program?

We will only hand deliver your Highfalutin Furry Baby. We never allow our furry babies to go under the plane. Your furry baby will be in the cabin and have the complete attention of our trained employee. Our delivery specialist is only assigned to tend to your furry baby.

Is it possible to pick up my Highfalutin Furry Baby?

Yes! We encourage families who own a private jet or want to charter a private service to coordinate picking up their furry baby with us.
