Adoption Questions

+ What is the first steps to getting a puppy from Highfalutin Furry Babies?

You will first need to complete the application form on our website. Second you will need to place "reservation fee" with PayPal or check. Once we have received the application and the "reservation fee" we will e-mail you confirmation, and mail a puppy packet to you. You will then be placed on our list to solidify your position. Always feel free to call for clarification as well. Getting a puppy is a lifetime commitment and we never encourage impulse purchases. These steps help us to not only get to know you but to help you research and mentally prepare for your new family member.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR RESERVATION FEE IS APPLIED TOWARDS YOUR ADOPTION FEE!

+ How much does a puppy cost?

The cost of your puppy depends entirely on the size, color, markings and type of Bernedoodle that you want. Micro/Mini and Merle Bernedoodles are usually more expensove due to complexities involved in the breeding process, but prices usually range between $3600 and $5000.

+ How much is hand delivery?

There is a $400 delivery fee for hand delivery of your puppy to an airport of your choosing. This delivery fee covers the time and expenses of the person delivering the puppy to you (gas, tolls, parking, sitter etc.) This price does not include the airfare of the person delivering or the airline pet ticket. These expenses must also be covered by you.

+ Can I come pick up my puppy?

Yes! If you prefer to we are more than happy to hand deliver your puppy to you locally (within 50 miles). We can also meet you at one of the Orlando area airports if you decide to fly in to pick up your puppy. We will provide you with all of the guidance you need to ensure that you have a safe and worry-free journey home with your puppy.

+ Will Highfalutin Furry Babies help me in the process of picking the puppy that best suits my family and needs?

We absolutely will! In fact most parents have us help with the process due to the personality and temperament of the puppy. We do two separate things that help give us an overall collection of what type of tolerance your puppy will have. First, we do something called a Volhard puppy aptitude test. Then a bioSensory test this gives us an opportunity to see how tolerable the puppy is to new situations. We recommend googling these two tests to see what exactly it entails. It's a wonderful way to get an update idea on what type of personality this little "furry baby" will have.

+ Is my reservation fee refundable?

No reservation fees are non refundable, but can be transferred to any litter here. Our main goal is to strive for perfection in matching you and your puppy. Sometimes this takes patience. There are no refunds, no exceptions.

+ Once my litter is born, at what age can I “pick” my puppy?

Puppies must be between 4-6 weeks old to pick. We will go in order of deposits received. Coloration can vary when the puppy is born vs when its an adult. I can't, nor will I, guarantee coloration over time. It all just depends on the puppy. Once your puppy is “picked” you must pay your balance in full. Please start your process of selection early with reviewing the weekly pictures I post. I will call you to confirm your decision and go over details of location of pick up/drop off.

+ How often will photos of my puppies litter be sent to me?

You will recieve one professional studio photo of your puppy upon adoption and we will usually send further photo every 2 weeks after a bath and blow-dry. If life gets in the way, we will do the best we can to get them to you as soon as possible.

+ At what age can my puppy leave Highfalutin Furry Babies?

Puppies can leave us between 8-10 weeks in most cases depending on litter size and our vets recommendations with the average departing age of 8 weeks. If our vets feel that puppies should stay longer you will be notified.

+ What if I cannot pick my puppy up for a few weeks when it's time to go?

We understand that life has its surprises it throws our way. We can keep your puppy for you for the discounted boarding fee of $35.00 a day. You are not charged for the first 7 days after the final vet appointment/go home day. If your puppy requires additional vaccinations, you will be charged for those. This will be reviewed with you over the phone.

+ When will the balance be due on my puppy?

The balance is due on your puppy at the time of adoption. If it is not paid for in full by this time you will need to contact me as soon as possible. If I don't hear from you within a week, I will assume you have decided to pass on this litter/puppy and it will be offered to the next family in line.

+ If something should happen and I can no longer take care of my dog will Highfalutin Furry Babies take the dog back?

Yes, if for any reason, at any point of the dogs life you can no longer care for him or her we ask that you bring him or her back to us and not to a shelter. Please let us know first, we are here to help you and your sweet "furry baby".

+ What happens if I don't find the perfect puppy in the litter I had planned to pick from?

Here at Highfalutin Furry Babies our main goal is to give you the ideal puppy of your dreams. Although we can't predict colors of puppies, how many born at once, or how many males/females each litter has, we ask you be patient. It will be well worth the wait! If you decide to pass on a litter, you will be bumped to another litter to choose from.

+ What if I choose a "furry baby" and after we have confirmed and paid for my puppy that I'm adopting, I change my mind?

Again, we strive for a perfect match. If you have confirmed with me, paid for and chosen your puppy, that "furry baby"is yours. We start the "picking" process early and there are many people involved and a wide variety of transportation that is already set in place. We will be more than happy to allow you to skip a litter, or ask another family that you are ahead of, to switch genders, but we cannot make any exceptions once your "furry baby" is picked out and paid for. We move down the deposit list after we receive your confirmation and it wouldn't be fair to other families involved, to completely change something that has already been solidified.

+ Can I come to visit "Highfalutin Furry Babies" and see my baby in person before picking him/her out or meet the parents?

As much as we would LOVE for you to see all of the "furry babies" here at "Highfalutin Furry Babies", we cannot allow outside visitors. There has been too many lives lost to parvo and we wouldn't want your puppy, or anyone else's, to fall victim. With all due respect, we hope you understand. If you would like to meet at a dog park or another area, we can arrange for that.

+ What size collar and harness will my puppy wear?

We include a collar and a small harness in your puppy pack, so not to worry.

+ What comes in my puppy pack?

Please look under "puppy pack" on our website to see the complete list of what goes home with your sweet baby.

Health Questions

+ Will my puppy come with vaccinations and be wormed?

All puppies receive a full vaccination round at 8 weeks (BUT REQUIRE BOOSTER & RABIES once taken home) and are fully wormed and health checked by my vet. You will also get a health certificate that will be good to fly anywhere in the U.S. for 30 days.

+ Are my puppies parents OFA certified for hips and elbow dysplasia?

YES, all of our parents are OFA certified or pending.

+ Are the parents of my puppy genetically health tested?

Yes, the parents are health tested by genetics. These tests are done when the parents turns two years of age. If any testing is "pending" those tests will be done shortly or we are just waiting for the lab results.

+ Will I receive a copy of the vets shot record?

You will receive a complete health check up report with all shots and worming products your puppy received here. Including a "Health Certificate" which is required by law.

+ Will my puppy have dew claws removed?

No, we do not remove back dew claws. I do not touch their tails, no worries there.

+ Will my puppy come with a micro chip?

Yes, we micro chip all puppies at no charge to clients. This is considered like a social security number for your puppy and MUST be registered by you. Your pamphlet with instructions comes in your puppy pack when receiving your "furry baby".

+ When should I take my puppy to see my vet once it arrives?

It is a good idea to take your puppy to the vet within the first week of arrival just to get established with your new doctor and have them look the puppy over. (Please read over our Heath contract/purchase agreement) We advise having an appointment already setup.

+ Will my puppy need additional shots?

Most states require three to four sets of puppy shots. In most cases your puppy will need one or two more sets of shots. You need to talk with your vet as soon as possible to get on a health plan. Rabies is a must, your "furry baby" is too tiny here to receive the rabies shot, unless you have decided to do a training program with us or your baby is traveling out of the country.

+ At what age do I get my puppy a rabies shot?

Puppies get a rabies shot at age 14-16 weeks. Again, your vet should help guide you with a health plan.

+ At what age do I start heart worm meds for my new puppy?

Each state varies, with the majority of states starting puppies on heart worm medication at age 12 weeks. You need to discuss this with your vet before giving any meds. You will be getting a starter kit with your puppy pack.

+ What kind of flea medication can I give my new puppy?

Frontline or K9 Advantix II are the most recommended flea preventatives for puppies. Consult with your vet first.

Training and Socialization questions

+ Will my puppy be potty trained when I pick it up?

We work with all puppies beginning at four weeks of age on potty training but these are small puppies. Most puppies do not understand the concept of potty training until the age of 16 weeks of age. We start crate training them and they know the command “go potty” when they leave us. We recommend using a "potty bell door kit" that can be purchased at any pet store. I will include a link for further description. For families that live in Apt, condos, high rises, or an area that has multiple pets using the same potty area, we suggest getting a potty patch area. These are sold at Target online or Amazon. I will include a link for additional information.

+ At what age can I start giving my puppy treats?

This is a pet ownership challenge question. Most vets recommend not giving your puppy treats until established. Meaning, in your home a minimum of two months and potty trained. Most clients spoil their new puppy upon arrival. It is vital to not indulge your puppy too much. Watch your puppies stool, make sure it remains firm, and always stick with treats made especially for puppies (preferably grain free).

+ What if my puppy will not eat once he arrives at our home?

Most puppies slip right into their new homes without issue. Occasionally puppies might become stressed from the departure of his litter. In this case we ask that you pour warm water over his kibble. If he still refuses to eat warm bland chicken and unseasoned white rice will do the trick. In most cases your puppy will drink and eat within a few hours. Puppies from Highfalutin Furry Babies are accustomed to being coddled. We find that stressed puppies quickly pull out of their shells if you hold them to your chestand allow them to tuck their muzzle into your neck. This is something they are very familiar with. We begin this technique at the age of one week. It is a calming trick that reminds the puppy of nestling into their mother. They will quickly learn your scent, and feel a sense of calmness. It also feels pretty good as a pet owner, to bond with your new “furry baby”.
